Parent Company of David Protein Bars Raises $250 Million in Series B Financing Round:

Medici Brands, the parent company of the maker of David protein bars, is demonstrating consumer’s insatiable demand for products that are high in protein, low in calories, and still taste good. Medici Brands raised $250 million in a Series B financing round in August 2026, bringing the company’s valuation to roughly $2.25 billion.

Peter Rahal, the co-founder and CEO, has a history of success with high protein snacks. Rahal previously co-founded RXBAR, a high protein bar made with simple ingredients including egg whites, dates, and nuts. In 2017, RXBAR was sold to the Kellogg Company for $600 million.

After selling RXBAR in his twenties, Rahal prepared for his next act in his thirties. The sale to Kellogg Company came with a 5-year non-compete, meaning Rahal could not launch a competing protein bar business for five years.

Nutritional efficiency is one of the key reasons why David protein bars quickly gained traction with consumers. Rahal realized that consumers were looking for a brand that could deliver as much protein as possible with the least number of calories. Named after a renaissance sculpture, David Protein launched in 2024 with simple gold packaging. The packaging outlined the key pieces of information consumers were interested in knowing: each protein bar was 150 calories with 28 grams of protein.

David protein bars quickly went viral. Since launching in 2024, Medici Brands has topped $300 million in revenue. This milestone makes it one of the fastest growing food companies in history. David has also recently launched David ice cream and protein shakes. Its products can be found in more than 35,000 retail locations, including Costco, Target, and Walmart.

“We are not interested in telling people to stop eating the foods they love,” stated co-founder and CEO Peter Rahal. “We want to improve public health by making those foods smarter: lower calories, less sugar, no compromise on taste or experience. If we can do that across categories, better nutrition becomes easier by default.”

Medici Brands also recently launched HallPass, a low-calorie confectionary brand. Its produce lineup includes peanut butter cups, crispy wafers, and chocolate-covered candies that are similar to M&Ms. The company is also preparing for the launch of Rowdy, a high-protein chips brand, in late 2026.

The company’s ability to produce high protein snacks without compromising on taste is made.
